McIntosh MC611 “como ningún otro amplificador”: Enjoy the Music
Con una potencia de 600 watts cada uno, un par de amplificadores de potencia monobloque MC611 Quad Balanced Power Amplifiers pueden manejar fácilmente un impresionante sistema de audio High End. En su reseña, Tom Lyle de www.enjoythemusic.com dice que no tardó mucho en notar una ventaja de los MC611s sobre su amplificador de referencia: los MC611s "apenas necesitaban tiempo antes de empezar a sonar lo mejor posible".
En comparación con su amplificador de referencia que tardaba hasta 45 minutos en calentarse correctamente, después de sólo cinco minutos los MC611 eran “smooth operators" desde el momento en que "se encendían por la mañana hasta que se apagaban por la noche".
Esto se debe a los disipadores de calor Monogrammed Heatsinks a donde se conectan los avanzados transistores de salida de alta corriente que ayudan a eliminar el retardo de equilibrio térmico - o tiempo de calentamiento.
Lo siguiente que descubrió fue su calidad de sonido. Siempre ha asumido que con los amplificadores "o se comprueban todas las cajas de calidad de sonido de los audiófilos, o va a sonar hermoso", pero no sería posible tenerlo en ambos sentidos. Esa suposición cambió cuando experimentó el MC611, que dice "no sólo suena "hermoso", sino que también suena tan fiel a la fuente como cualquier amplificador que se haya instalado en mi sistema”.
Y añade: "El MC611 es uno de los amplificadores de sonido más bonitos que he oído nunca, y al mismo tiempo es uno de los amplificadores de sonido más realistas que he oído nunca. Y esto sigue sorprendiéndome cada vez que enciendo el MC611 y reproduzco un vinil, un disco o un archivo digital a través de ellos".
En la Sinfonía No. 5 de Carl Nielsen (Orquesta Sinfónica de Bournemouth dirigida por Paavo Berglund), Lyle dice que la orquestación puede ser bastante compleja. En el segundo movimiento una trompeta salta de octava en octava; la ha escuchado tocar a través de numerosos amplificadores, la mayoría de los cuales "entierran la trompeta" con los instrumentos que la acompañan. Pero el MC611 fue capaz de colocar "distancia dinámica entre la trompeta y el resto de los instrumentos" para que pudiera escuchar y disfrutar tanto de la trompeta como de los instrumentos de apoyo.
Lyle cierra su reseña diciendo que en todos sus años de escuchar y revisar amplificadores, nada lo preparó "para lo que estaba a punto de escuchar" de los MC611. "No sólo suenan como ningún otro amplificador de estado sólido que haya oído antes, sino que no suenan como ningún otro amplificador que haya oído antes, punto.”
